irc chat

I hope this is for general discussion,
I have never used irc before, and I wanted to join in on #mp3car on EFNet. So I downloaded WinBot, but when it starts it tells me that no network adapters are detected. I am using a dialup connection. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Use another program, where to make changes, etc. I looked at all the tabs, and none of them show anything for making a connection.

for windows, just use mIRC

its the simplest to use.
