space, most people don't have room in the front of there car, noise plays no issue
Why the most of you do the install in the trunk of the car? I think I´m gonna make it near the passenger seat. Which is the advantage in the rear? noise?

I have mine in the center console, mostly because its easier for connectivity with the GPS, LCD, PSU, Mouse, etc.

i'd have to agree space and ventilation
Sure the front is probably the much more practical idea, but for some of us it is not possible. Many of us don't have room upfront or just don't want to loose the functionality of the glove compartmnt as an example. This becomes a major problem if one doesn't use an itx mobo.
Now that I look back, I should have put mine in the trunk. The passenger-side airbag looked promising though. I personally wouldn't have the time anyway to run all the stuff to the trunk... I think it would be too much work.
extension cables are def. one very big concern for a trunk installation.
An under-dash or in-dash install makes everything so easy if you have the space. Cabling is a doddle.

I have no cabling issues. My serial, usb, vga, audio cables are all over 6' with no issues. The mouse/ keyboard is RF so no problems there.Originally Posted by vcbb5
