Damn I'm jealous. Is that 5.6" monitor big enough for dvd and stuff? I am debating putting an external 6.4" or a 5.6" in the dash like you did.

Yes, that is a 5.6, and DVD looks great on it! All you have to do is go to your local auto parts store or local auto paint store and ask for some bondo, they will know what you are talking about.(Dont forget to get a pack of spreaders) It comes in 2 parts, a big can and a small tube, you mix it up and apply it. But you better do it fast because it hardens very quickly, then you just sand it like a piece of wood. You will have to do a couple coats of bondo and sanding to get it just right. Then paint it. Piece of cake! If you need more info let me know.

That bondo install is just too cool. I was thinking of doing fiber glass. with mine. I might go the bondo route. I've never done either one so I can image how many failed attempts I'll have. I was wondering where, or how you made the frame for the screen and how you got it to lay up against the frame so well? Thanks.

    Kudos, looks great

Is the pc's LCD VGA or NTSC ?

I used bondo for some body work once, it looked great for about 4 months, then it cracked / expanded / shrank, seperated from the rest of the body. I swore it off after that.

How long has yours been in place ?

Im also curious about the back of the display. What did you use to mount / secur it ?

Well did you used the bondo on the outside or inside of your car when you say "body work". I would assume outside. The inside of your car doesn't take half of the abuse the exterior does, so I'm sure bondo would last a good while in interiors.

yeah,it was on the outside.... I was just miffed at it. im bondo-biased.

I dont do a lot of body stuff... I had a gash in my front bumper. small area, no crinkles or cracks annywhere else, and I just hated to replace the whole thing cuzz of this one spot...

annyhow, it took me a really longs time. an hour or two about 2 or 3 times a week ( I was busy) to sand it down, mix it, fill it.... let it dry, sand it again.... fill it again, sand it down, paint it.

When I was done, I was SO PROUD. it looked great, you couldnt even tell it had been done, it was so smooth , and the paint matched 100%

Then like a month later, it shrunk and cracked. I bought a new bumper.

The monitor is NTSC, and I have been building parts of dashes for years with bondo and no problems. Glass is really messy and not as plyable as bondo, I use glass to make custom sub enclosures. Just get some ABS Plastic and cut to fit kinda close and then use bondo to fill the voids. It will take some time so dont get mad when you have to redo it. I can't count how many time I have had to start over! To mount it, I just let alittle bit a bondo go into the opening and around the edge and it created a lip on the edge of the opening, so it just kinda snaps into place.
