What was the PSU that you replaced with, ie what power rating and did it have an extra P4 power connector?
Hey guys - seeing if i could get some help with my desktop (non-car PC).
So here were my desktop specs
Intel P3 1.0 GHz
512 MB PC133 SDRAM
ATI 9600 PRO
SB Audigy 2
Linksys 802.11g PCI card
Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 40 GB HDD
Sony 12x CD-Burner
Toshiba 4x DVD-ROM
running win2000
i've had this configuration for about a year, with no problems. I left for work one day and my computer was on, and when i came back it was off and would not power on again. I tested the power supply, and it seemed to be dead, so I replaced it. When I replaced it, the LEDs on the mobo came on, and all of the fans spun, but the system didn't boot. Further I don't even think it POSTed (didn't hear the beep). Just in case the video card was toast somehow, I tried an old ATI Rage Pro card i had and still the same result.
edit: no signal to my monitor at any point during any of the above or below testing
So I bought a new PSU (Antec Trueblue 480), new mobo (intel mobo, 875 chipset, socket 478) and 3.2 Ghz P4 chip with 1 gb PC3200 ram. hooked that all up, popped in my ATI 9600 Pro, and still the same result as the old system. Tried the old Rage Pro and still no go.
I'm totally confused here. I've built and rebuilt a number of systems, but haven't come across anything like this.
any ideas?

Was your first system overclocked? Did you lock the AGP speed? Possible both vid cards have been damaged? When you turn on the computer did you listen to the beeps? They are coded and can help you determine what is wrong with your system. Let me look around for the beep code thing.
This link covers some of the popular bios' (saw phoenix and award).
Dont want to jump to conclusions but I just had the same problem with a customer, the power supply blew and took the motherboard with it, but it didnt damage the CPU just the board.

yeah the power supply blowing and taking the mobo with it is my best guess.
im hoping all the cards/drives still work.
it is possible that both vid cards are damaged but it seems unlikely.
its not beeping at all (when the system blew).
i can't hear the beeping on the new mobo because i have to alter the pc speaker plug.
not overclocked on the original p3. i dont kknow what locking agp means but it was operating at 4x.
