I have had divx movies running on my P2-266 and it only had 32megs of RAM at the time.. 8meg AIW Pro video card.. should work fine.
I was just curious to see if anyone might know how a PII 266 will handle divX decoding? The system (the PII) i'm installing in my car will play DVDs fine with software decoding, but I know mpeg-4 is heavily compressed. I would test it out by my system is in the process of installation and in pieces everywhere. The reason I'm asking is because I've read threads where people have 450mhz k6-2s with choppy divX decoding. Thanks.
who knows? i have tried the same movie on 3 systems, first my k62 550/128mb/voodoo300 and it skipps like mad, on a 633 p3 128mb/intel vid card it plays but not full screen, and a 533 k62 64mb with a trident 3d card plays silky smooth. I dont get it
I played DiVX on a Celeron 300a (@300) like glass with my ATI AIW128... On my girlfriends PII 300mhz Compaq (ick) with a intergrated 2mb ATI (IIRC) forget it. Choppy as poooo.
VCD for Life! I still can't play divx on the DVD player in the living room.
I cheat, I own an empeg.

How do you play DivX on a DVD player? Is that really possible?Originally posted by nester:
