Check the m/b I know most (if not all) intel branded m/b have a built in speaker onboard.
If you cant even hear anything then you need to look else where...PSU perhaps.
so i just installed a new mobo and processor in my system:
INTEL D875PBZ Mobo
p4 3.2 GHz 800 FSB 1 MB L2 processor
1024 MB PC3200 Kingston RAM
ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 8xAGP Graphics Card (also tried a generic MSIS graphics card with same results)
when i power on, i get LEDs and FAN but no boot. (nothing on monitor) anyone got any ideas on why this might be?
also, to hear the post beeps does the pc speaker need to be connected to the mobo? I'm assuming yes.

If you have checked your psu and all settingas are fine and you have even connected speakers and still cante hear psot beeps, but you shouldnt need speakers, there should be a speaker connection from you case to your Mobo near the hdd led and power led plugs.
Also this has happend to me as well and but for me unluckly one of the transistors/resistors had blown and it was to much work to find out which one. so i bought a new one.
Also, Check you ram as well as that can be the culprit as well, try to get a hold of some tested working ram to try.
take out all the pci cards or agp card and try it
same result with no cards in. big fat nothings.
i'm resetting the cmos right now, not that i have high hopes that it will do anything.

Have you gone for minimal hardware?
Like no HDD, no FDD, no CDROM? and no extra card or RAM at all?
If you run out of ideas the best thing to do is to test the parts in a known working PC...just be very careful how you do this
Test the RAM, CPU, PSU and VGA. If all pased then they are either not compatible with the M/B or you have a faulty M/B or just a config problems.
sound like you either have incompatible cpu, memory or a combonation of both. You would not be able to get to the post screen if cpu or memory is messed up.
Sounds like incompatible hardware indeed.. not memory but cpu.
Can also be defective hardware off course.. try with the minimun hardware to find out the problem.
make sure you have a good connection between heatsink and chip (with compound on) if fan is running slower than 2500rpm some boards will shut down to protect chip
