Question Weird "Clicking" noise on start of every song

    Hi,

I have just got my MPXPLAY software v. 1.48 dos-gw installed on my old PC, and it is working pretty well.

I use Windows 98, and boot it directly to DOS. (Not starting the GUI interface in windows)
My soundcard is Media Vision Jazz 16, and I have the DOS drivers installed and working fine.

The problem I have, is that at the beginning of every MP3 song, there is a strange "Clicking" sound heard. I read somewhere that this could be "IMHO the WAV header". (But that was discussing another MP3 player software).

Does anybody have the same problem, and how can I get rid of this, if possible?

Also, when starting the MPXPLAY program in DOS, it takes quite long to start, about a minute. Some clicking can be heard during this period, so I guess the program is trying to check the sound card settings. Any suggestions why the startup takes so long? (When I start it in Windows98, it starts immidiately).

    Thanks....

    Mizar.

does the clicking come from your hard drive? the last 2 hdd i had both made this sound before they died. if you have partitioned the drive try sticking a few mp3s on a diffrent partition and see if it does the same? dont know if this is right but when my clicking started the pc took ages to do anything and the read light was allways on and asfar as i know nothing else in there can click.

No, the noise is definatly generated by the MPXPLAY program itself. When a new song starts, a strange "Clicking" noise is heard in the loadspeakers.
