    MP3 Orginization

I have my MP3s (all 2000) in one giant folder. Windows doesn't like that too much, my 2 Ghz 1 Gig of RAM system takes almost a full minute to just open the folder. Other programs (Creative Midia Source that came w/me mp3 player) handles them fine.

Can someone suggest a better method of organiszing them? Should I make a folders for each artist? Should I make folders for each Album? 85% of my collection is Full CD rips that I own. The rest are single tracks of CDs that I own. Thus I have proper tags on all my files. Is there a program that'll organise for me?

    Thanks.

even if you just sort by Artist - Album as folder names it helps, but a good way would be to go genre(if you have many different types)>artist>album

I got alphabet/Artist/Album for the file structure, I did all mine by hand but I believe you should be able to create a playlist and the export all those songs to a folder for an mp3 device.

I haven't done it myself, but I think iTunes will sort it by Artist, then Album based on id3 tags. I'd really like a better organizer, like one that doesn't make a sub folder if there's only one song for instance.

    BTW, 24,000.

Yea i think you might be stuck creating your own heirarchy of folders by hand
I've got it similar to others

Albums Folder -Artist - Album title - Discs (if more than 1)
    Singles Folder- Artist

If i finish the single folder w/ the rest of the alumb i'll move it to the right spot.

You might check out iTunes and let it organize a copy of your collection (don't do it to the originals in case it screws 'em up) to see if that's good enough. If nothing else, it might be a good starting point, plus it's free.
