Sorry, but there is no such thing as a *free* country.

    We live by government rules

I'm in Heber Springs.... and I have a Car PC.

I have been pulled over twice with it in, and the screen on. The officers (both state troopers) never asked any questions.

I believe it is left up to the individual officers discretion. Basically if you get a trooper or a city cop you should be ok (AFAIK there is no law SPECIFICALLY banning screens in the car). However if you get off of the beaten path (like where I live in AR) then the local cops can/will hassle you. Bottom line is if the cop wants to get ya for it they will. They can get you for not paying attention to the road (reckless driving = too fast for conditions which can include distractions inside as well as outside the car). Most cops I have run into thought it was cool. Remember most of the cops have mdt (mobile data terminals) in the car so computers may not look too out of place for them.

With that said; If you are caught Driving 70mph down a 15 mph road (extra points if you can do it in reverse) with the movie on will probably get ya the reckless driving ticket though. They also get real anal when it comes to school zones (I turn mine off when I go through them as we have a trooper stationed in this area who will pull you over if you look at him wrong while driving through the school zone).

This also applies to cell phones but it is not enforced near as much as it should be.
