Hmm, that sucks.
I take it you swapped details?
Any witnesses? any of your paint on her car? any sign on your car you've hit someone?
Things have been going well, a little to well.
So something just had to happen to change my luck.
- Yesterday I had my ten year old car valeted and it looks great.
- This inspired me to visit my local bodyshop who gave me an amazing price to fix out all the scratches, dents and patches of rust.
- I then got home and finished up all of the wiring for the car pc and mounted my screen in the centre console. It looks great, pictures to follow.
- This morning whilst merging into a lane of traffic, a car ahead stopped suddenly, the car in front of me breaked, and I nudged into the back of it. No apparent damage to my car, none to her's other than a few scratches. I must of been moving at all of 5 miles an hour. However, despite apologies and offers to pay for any damage I can feel a claim coming. 6 years of no claims bonus down the swanny. Bugger.

None of my paint on her car, no witnesses, we did swap details. However, I have already contacted my insurers and admitted liability. I am not looking to get out of it blame wise. I just hope that the amount of damage to her car is so small she won't claim. The other option I have is that my insurers should offer me the chance to foot the bill and therefore make no claim. Just hope she doesn't get onto a no win no fee firm. Oh well.

I had someone bump into the back me at some lights last year, some kid in an Audi. It was weird because we weren't actually moving and he had been stopped behind for a few seconds,(probably was pretty close and let the clutch out by mistake) anyway I got out really mad, but had a look saw there was no damage, speed was so small don't think there was any damage to the chassis, so let it be, didn't even bother swapping details. Just gave him a very loud piece of my mind and questioned his parentage.
Also
Many years ago I went into the back of someone pulling out from a roundabout, the car in front started to go, I saw the space they had to pull out in and thought they had plenty, unfortunately they suddenly decided they didn't and stopped. Broke plastic grille. (old MKIII ford Capri). Anyway we both got out surveyed the damage, he had his rear bumper caved in and some damage to the bottom valance. He said the car is going in to be repaired for that damage already as he had had someone go into the back of him a couple of weeks ago, so don't worry about it. I thought Result!
Makes me think though that maybe he made a habit of bottling it at junctions, and that really it should have been his fault.![]()
I used to have a red Escort and twice had people drive into the back of me. Both times it looked like there was no damage, and at the first one i said i wouldn't claim, but when I looked inside the boot the chaisis had buckled. £900 worth of repairs so I had to then claim, but the guy was foreign and uninsured so it took years to sort out. Second time it happened exactly the same damage, so I'll have to wait and see what I hear.
All this is thoroughly depressing, so I'll have to start reading up on setting up and wiring in my opus power supply so I can finish the install tonight. Sweet![]()

I installed my opus PSU and put the pc in the car. After a little bit of tweaking I booted up and it works.![]()
On the down side there I've got tonnes of interference. Both on the screen and in the sound. The screen flickers quite a lot, and I've reduced it by increasing the refresh rate. Seems quite high at over 100hz. I don't think I've really addresed the problem.
As for the sound I've got a grumbling noise coming from the rear speakers. I've got a hunch it might be linked to hard drive activity as it will reduce if when the computer is not trying to do anything. But then again it could be the onboard sound card. Or maybe the egg I cut out of the liliput wires. Or the proximity of the PSU power leads and the vga cables. Or the various earthing points. Or any number of other reasons I haven't even heard about yet.
I'm lost.

So after a bit of experminentation I've found the interference only occurs when the cable is pluggeed in from the soundcard to my Sony Aux in adapter. It doesn't happen if I plug my laptop in. It's also worse when the monitoris on in the front of the car. I've got a few different things I can try.
Any other suggestions gratefully recieved.
