I've never run mirc - I've heard that it's full of security holes. Is this true? Are they easily patchable?

Security holes.... Let me see, they CAN get your IP Address, but imho thats no big deal, just get a good security program such as zonealarm (www.zonealarm.com) or Blackice Defender (www.blackice.com)
