Whats wrong with the 5200 PCI - loads of them around - including low profile and tv out ones for about 45-50. not gonna be doing any gaming are you?

Yeah, it'd do the job fine. It's just the principle of the thing. They can get it, why can't we?

Probably because if most people want a decent graphics card we go buy an AGP and not waste money on a card that is connected to the mobo by a crap interface for graphics! Let them waste the extra 10-15 the 5500 will cost over the 5200 and not get much benefit for what they are using it for.

The 5200 or old mx400 etc are all perfectly good enough for the majority of PC uses - ie Office, internet and DVD - and carpc uses. If they release both the 5500 and 5200 thay will be in direct competition against each other and make the choice even more confusing and hike up prices due to economies of scale. Bigger market in the US and Nvidia probably want more card numbers released so they are seen to be catering for the budget US market las good as or better than ATI.

The 5200 is probably just a slower clock speed anyway! crank it up using an overclock tool if you want more speed.
