touchscreens n stuff

having never really looked into it, how do touchscreen lcd's work in windows?
do u press the start button on the screen and it opens that up?.. do u need a mouse/keyboard or anything?.. or probably a better question, are they neccessary?...
i was considering getting a lilliput 7" touchscreen, cause ive only just discovered this site and have toyed with the idea of rigging up a 'carputer'
what do i need to build a good lil system?
am i better off going for an inverter or some other kind of PSU for the setup?/...
help me!

When you touch the screen it acts as a mouse click at that point, so if you touch the windows start button, it will open the start menu.

As for the PSU, go for a DC-DC power supply such as the OPUS, Carnetix or M1-ATX.

how do they work? do you plug it into cigarette lighter or something? (dc-dc)

Caution...you'll get a lot of people telling you to search first. A lot of the base stuff is covered in previous posts. I'd start in the newbie section and go from there. Pay attention to the stickies in each forum.
