    Supersize my Palm

    Palm to LCD
I have seen several links for how to view/control the computer screen on your PDA. What I am looking for is a way to export the palm display to an LCD *without* having any computer hookup. I just want to make the Palm screen bigger. I just know I have seen someone here do this.. I think there is a program someone wrote for the palm but I cannot seem to find it. Dispite trying
    TIA

Unless you mean a serial LCD (small ones, typically text-only, though) I don't see how a lone peice of software could let you output to an external LCD.

Maybe you're remembering a front-end to use with expensive hardware SD to VGA Adapters (like the Margi Presenter-To-Go SD Card )?

right now i think the only pda that has the ability to do that is the x50v. its a vga pda with the capability to out to a vga screen through a cable.

Most of Toshiba's newer PPCs can output VGA. Also, the Loox 720 can. There's a CF version of the Presenter-To-Go for Pocket PCs as well. But the above the only option I know of for Palm.

Isnt there a CF card that can do this??? I realise modern palms don't have CF slots, but maybe there is an SD equivilant.

Yep, I think the solution I had remembered was a guy using Margi to output to an external LCD. Thx tom61. Also found a the Margi site here

You should look in the Show Off Your Projects section. There's a project where a guy used a Tapwave Zodiac as his carputer. Not too shabby actually

That could really work out nicely. If the pda video out works well... hook it up to a mini-usb keyboard and a motorized lcd... I mean, talk about a quick/easy install... heck, the thing would completely fit in/behind the radio din

PDA video out is typically good for static images, but suffers from slow update times with moving images. No watching video, and scrolling GPS may be pushing it.

Yea, I think the big reason for me to consider a PDA is the lack of startup time. The Palm is essentially instant on. The downside is that all the accessories (SD USB HDD Drive , Mini Keyboard, memory, etc..) costs more than the traditional computer. Also, would be more difficult to multi-task. I am still on the fence as some have really brought their startup times down using win98 lite etc...
