Are we talking old car 1957? If so the coil shall only have 12V positive, the other connector shall go to the condensator. It's not nessesary to ground the ignition switch.
I have a 57 ford that I wired over and over four diffeernt ways and cannot get spark to the coil wire.I have wired it direct from the ignition switch and now getting power to the coil on the neg. and pos. side.Does the ignition switch need to be grounded? and does the coil have power on both sides when the key is on.eng.grouned,frame,body everything.electronic ign. changed back to points and condenser.new coil and resistor,tried 40,000 volt coil without resistor,purchased new wiring kit with fuses but cannot hook up till I figure out problem.please help
