Pioneer IP bus hack confusion

I am about to do the aux in hack for my pioneer DEHP4300R. I have found the diagrams from searching but there are 2 different schematics. On one diagram the pin on the middle row is used for the common ground/left channel -. But on the other it is used for left channel +. Which diagram is correct since I read that some people were having problems with distortion and the input being too quiet.

First diagram is an error...go with the second one bc it's straight out of a pioneer cd-rb20 schematic. I have used it myself and it works too.

dont know about the first (havent tried it) but the second worked for me :)

I posted the 2nd one way back it works well. I also have a picture that can clear it up a bid that I created looking at the real deal.... I am having problems getting into my mp3car site so I cant post the picture right now but if someone else wants to host it I can email it to you. mrhic@home.com

To help clear this up (and since I couldnt find a definate answer anywhere on this forum).....

I installed a Pioneer Head Unit with my old JL-Audio speakers into a mates car on the weekend ready for a mp3car system too and was looking around for all info here.... this was my result -

• Both diagrams listed above work. BUT (and a big but) the SECOND diagram results in a much quiter output sound, so I used the FIRST diagram (Arby's one). Im guessing that this is deliberate for different versions of Pioneer CD-changers?
• The AUX mode does not enable automatically, which cause me alot of trouble. I assumed that with the headunit detecting a ground on the two return audio pins that a new option would appear. After alot of scratching heads and another search I found a post from Maestro saying that you need to hold the FUNCTION key for 4-seconds with the power off to bring up a hidden menu and enable AUX mode. We didnt have a FUNCTION key on our headunit but played around with the main keys and found that the button that changes the FADER/EQ/BASS/TREBLE/ETC was the equilivent of the function key - and worked a treat....
• Ensure you ground the ground wires back to the chassis of the head unit to get a good quality signal. I soldered directly to the IP-BUS pins on the back (I have a thin soldering tip, steady hand and a few hundred hours PSX MOD chip experence - so I am used to fiddly soldering work!) and used heatskrink tubing over each wire once soldered to avoid the chance of shorting - due to close distances between the IP-BUS pins...

A guy in sweden sells theese, they're $37.5 each...

I coulnd't find any reseller of the original one, so i got one.
they were 3 internal cdrom audio connectors on top of each other glued together, with the center hole drilled up to fit, and shrinktubing around it. When I got it, I couldn't believe it was so easy/cheap made, but it works, and thats enuff for me :)

The things I wish I'd thought of....

When I first tried it out, I found it was very quiet, but that's partly what the rest of the crap in the CD-RB20 circuit is for.

Crutchfield has one for $29 that's a 3rd party IP-Bus cable, professionally made. Works great, less filling. Also less likely to come loose or screw anything up because they use a REAL IP-bus plug. search for Cruthfield number: 469PiOPRCA
