Yes. The compass handles the errors automatically and XPort keeps the COM ports open as if nothing ever happened.Originally Posted by justintime
I'll try disabling my internal motherboard bus/hub, and see if that helps when hibernating!

Hot damn, if this works it will be solving one of my last few software issues. Also, I plan on integrating that cool compass into my frontend. Very Very cool stuff!!!Originally Posted by Curiosity

EDIT: I retested several times now, and it does work correctly. Not sure what happened during my initial test. I'll keep on trying this out, so far so good!!!
Well I just tested this out, and when I resume from Hibernation, I get no data to the output port because XPort shows no 'dot' on the input port coming from Xcompass (after resume from hibernate). This, despite the fact that XCompass is still open and running.
Only way out of this, was to disable the Xport service, and re-enable it.
Am I missing something? Note: I set the input port to just anything.. 64 in my case. I understand this input port is the 'link' between COmpass and Xport. Also, I have Compass set to port 4, which is the Prolific driver assigned Port (the 'real' port, if you will).

BTW, I tried doing this, but the problem I am having is that as soon as I disable with DEVCON, it sends me a message complaining that it needs to restart the PC in order for the changes to take effect. duh!!
Same thing happens if I try to disable the USB device directly, instead of the hub it is connected to.
Anyone else getting this? At any rate, Xport works well. I just don't like the idea of having that running constantly in the background etc., just to eliminate the reconnect nag.

Can someone please explain how to shutoff an external USB hub using this program??
I've looked at it and read this thread but am still no wiser
cheers
does anyone know how I could close a tray program with this?
im using a program called Steering Wheel Controller (SWC) but it cant handle un-hibernation, it comes back disabled so I was wondering what i have to do to unload it before hibernate and reload it after?
Hibernate Trigger starts SWC up ok but the other un-hibernated broken SWC is still in the tray because I cant seem to find the right switch or script to shut it down beforehand.
Thanks a lot
What program?
use autoit and create a script that kills the process..Originally Posted by Mad Ad
use devcon (Originally Posted by Focus Dan
will help you find the resource kit that it comes with). Use the built in help with the program (it is a command line app) to find the id of the hub you are using, and the use the enable and disable commands to eanble/disable it in a batch script.
