    Post NNS Mach-I

Originally designed to go in the car I'm building, I'm thinking about making this special stereo I designed available to the public in very limited quantity. (limited because I have to build these things by hand, including the metal casing) This will be a computer small enough to fit into a single DIN slot in a car. I don't plan on prototyping a double din because I can fit the hard drive, dvd-rom, and motherboard all into one slot. If someone would really want a double din and can tell me what can be done with the extra space, talk away.

    Anyway, on to specifics:
Motherboard with printer port, serial, game port, usb x2, network, VGA/LCD/TV output, 10gb or higher hard drive, DVD-ROM 8x speed (for CDs and movies), dvd decoder card (dvd decoder card can be hot swapped for another card, like a card to hook up to your internet cell phone), your standard keyboard/mouse ports, seperate hook up for GPS reciever.

Now I know someone is going to ask how I squeezed all this stuff in there. If they can make computer the size of your hand, then this is possible. Email at <A HREF="http://mailto:[email protected]?subject="NNS%20Mach-I"" TARGET=_blank>[email protected]</A> for more information.

an ungodly $900, not really ungodly, but a bit much, but it is a computer so I would expect it to get that high. If I were to get the parts at discount, I might be able to shave about $200 of the price.

that price cant be right. did you leave off a digit?

and how do you fit all that AND a DVD drive in a single DIN? the drive alone should take up the whole din......unless, this is all theoretical and youve never actually tried to make one.....

Correct, also, laptop hard drives and tougher and can take more shock than regular desktop hard drives. With the components I'm putting in, there will be space left over in the single DIN.

wizardPC: The price is correct. That is the highest price I could get if I were to buy everything at full price.
