People hacked that the day it came out....

basically you dial ##DIALUP and cycle the phone off/on to enable dial-up networking
and then there's these "seem edits" to enable bluetooth OBEX, etc

all the details are on http://howardforums.com... in the verizon -> motorola forum... hell there's even a faq on how to do all the starting hacks on your e815 its pretty easy just need a data cable (any old motorola usb cable from ebay works fine w/it) takes about 40 min including downloading all the software

Yeah, I know that there's a hack for both the 710 and 810. I just think it's really freakin stupid that a company purposely cripples features on the phones that they sell.

Sure, Verizon and Sprint both say that it is so they can make money from Brew apps and ringtones (GetItNow on Verizon, I don't knwo what it's called on Sprint), but Cingular and T-mobile have basically the same kind of system where people (If they want to/don't know how to download things for free) can buy ringtones and applications and games from their service (Cingular - MediaNet T-mobile = Tzones). But, the latter 2 don't cripple their phones. I was able to put various MP3 ringtones and Java games on my Moto v551, V300, and Nokia 6230 through bluetooth without paying an extra cent to my provider. They don't care. They're happy enough that I'm a customer. And if the way to make their customers happy is to not cripple their phones, then that's what they will do.

Have you seen TV lately? Whos idea was it to make friggen commercials advertising ring tones, daily jokes, wallpapers, etc. FOR like $3 a week n ****, how INTO your phone can you be that you have to spend money ON TOP of your monthly charges, just so you can "be cool?"

cell phones are phones, they arent fashion accessories, they arent trendy, they are useful. Its just a phone with no base. NOT something new. Alexander Graham Bell, still alive and tickin. feel?

That's what I'm saying but with a little twist. I would hate to pay for ringtones/application/games for my phone, if I can get them for free. That's one reason why I'm dropping Verizon. They rape you where ever they can. For instance, I live near the San Diego/Tijuana border, and I get about 3-6 Txt messages/day telling me that I've won a free cruise to PLACE TRIP LOCATION HERE, in spanish. Now, everytime that I get the message, Verizon charges me .02 cents. It's not that expensive, but it adds up to ~$3.60 extra/month (with 6 txt/day).

Now, I've called VZW support, they can't block that number/service from texting me, what they offered to do was to turn texting off on my acount. That wouldn't work for me because I do text people every once in a while, plus I do like to check how many minutes I've used (Dial #646 Send, Free TXT with info), and if they turned my texting off, I would have to actually listen to my minutes instead of just reading how many I've used.

Now, I'm not saying that this does not happen on my Cingular phone, but, I called Cingular customer support, and asked them what I could do, and what they did for me was that they would credit me every month any text message received from any place that was spam. They are working currently on a system that will allow them to block certain numbers/sites from text phones, but nothing yet.

As far as customizing phones, I defenitely need to have a different ringer than my collegues, because then we get confused as to who's phone is ringing. ALso, I think it is cool that when I am bored, I can open up a can of whoopass on about 40 different NES games (I have a Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone) or if I want to check how much of a tip I owe a server at a restaurant (I suck at math) I can open my phone open a little app that I have and it will tell me exactly what I owe them.

    Damn.... my fingers hurt.

    Peace,

    Rafster

On the first computer I built, the motherboard died within a month. I called American Express and complained and received $90 insurance money and with that bought a new one. I then RMAed the old on with Abit and received another working one, so now I have two for the price of one! Ah the beauty of insurance and RMAs.
