Flash memory has a limited number of write cycles. I would be worried about putting a swap file on one.
do you think it would be possible to use an iPod nano as a hard drive solely for use with the OS plus your music? like the question form would probably be "does the OS hard drive have to be IDE? or USB mass storage device?

What would the advantage of that vs some other flash/solid state memory be?

oh lol i thought the nano was hard drive based. i was amazed at the size of the HD. well i guess i have to shift the shape of my question. can you run an OS off of a usb mass storage device that is hard drive based like the 4G ipods.
