Underneath the photobucket pic is a choice of links you can copy and paste. Click the one labeled IMG code. What it does is add to the end of the link. OR you can click the yellow mountain icon on the list of tools right above where you type your post and it will pop up a box that lets you enter a URL. All it does is add the same prefix and suffixe to your URL. So either way works.

I just wanted to say to everyone on this forum in particular you have all been a huge help and an awesome source of ideas without which i wouldn't have even know where to start.

    Man, that's pretty badass.

Do you have any concerns about keeping thieves away?

A member here was just asking me about the proper way to run a power wire to the amplifier or carpc. It's actually a pretty good question.

When you're talking about amplifier power you want to run a heavy gauge cable straight from the battery. It's crucial that you have a large fuse as close to the battery as possible. This fuse size needs to match the cable size so that if there is a short circuit down the line the fuse will catch fire before the cable does. If the cable burns first it may set your car a blaze. Then at the other end of the cable, you want to have another fuse right before the amplifier and it needs to be sized for the amp. This fuse is designed to catch fire before the amplifier does. There by again, saving your car.

Now if you don't have real big amps you can run a cable size of about four gauge with no more than a fuse size of around 100 amps. This size of cable can be run down the passenger side and through the grommet the car's computer runs through.

On my car I wanted to do things right straight from the start. I wanted to have enough cable to power anything I could think of and I didn't want to have to wire the car twice. So I went with zero gauge and a 250 amp fuse. This size cable won't easily fit through the grommet so I ran it over to the drivers side and drilled a hole through the firewall. It has its own grommet as well as sealant putty to hold it still and seal it up. Here is a picture of it.

    Jason, thanks for that!

I like your idea of running a 0 gauge to power everything. When I have everything installed. whenever that is, I am thinking I'll have two amps running (for 4 speakers and a sub, possibly two) and the carPc. I'm going to attempt to run a 4 gauge tomorrow but it is only to control one amp for now. I am guessing you are running that 0 gauge to a power distribution device? I get so many different answers from reading other places or from people selling wires. It can really cause frustration.

I'll have to compare your pic there tomorrow to see (it looks a bit different.. but then again it is late at night) So are you connecting your 0 gauge directly onto your battery?

    I appreciate it dude

(oh and thanks for giving me an idea on where to look for the firewall hole!)

Yes, I have a distribution block that accepts a 0 gauge in and has 3 outputs along with a digital voltmeter. Here's a pic of my old stealth setup.

What I'm telling you about the wiring is standardized info from the big sound off groups like IASCA and USACi. Their rules dictate no more than 18 inches between the battery and it's fuse. The closer, the better. The thicker the wire the less voltage drop you get at the amps.

Since you have a 4 gauge, slide the computer out of the firewall and look down into the hole. You should be able to see the grommet. Remove the passenger side kick panel and you should be able to grab the wire end and pull it though. Run it along the passager side door sill to the rear seat area. Make sure not to run any signal wires next to it.

Thank you for the advice Jason. I'm messing around with it today and am working on sliding the computer around so I can get to the hole. I'll then run the power wire through there and get it set up. I can really see why you wouldn't want to run multiple wires through here and it is a pain. When I get more things later on running, I'll definitly follow your advice on using a 0 gauge wire, just makes much more sense.
