Sure I'd like to have 200gb of my favorite mp3's at my finger tips but I have to ask how is the car computer experience vs a nice aftermarket head unit. I don't want to try to drive and work MS windows at the same time. How do you control your car computer? What about a AM/FM radio? Can you operate a car computer without taking your eyes off the road? I guess my question is what kind of front ends are availble for car computers?
there's a whole subforum devoted to frontends...

You should really look around more and do some reading...
You could do both... I use a JVC head unit with a mini-jack plug on the front of it. This way I can use my head unit like normal, then switch the mode to aux and have it work with the carputer. I find it to be quite a great setup. It allows me to play normal cd's, mp3 cd's, and all the stuff on my carputer without a hitch. Also, if my carputer ever dies I won't be out of sounds. I can always go back to head unit mode (yuck). This simplifies the whole install alot and makes using existing amps, head units, speakers a breeze. If this is your first carputer install I highly recommend it.
