You probably want to go through a IDE->USB adapter. IDE doesn't support cable lengths that long, while USB should have no problem with it.
I want mount dvd-rom in dash board by mobo is mount in rear of vehicle.
I have panasonic cw 8124 slim drive and notebook to ide adapter.
What type of wire to use?
(If you show me in drawing I can understand well)
Thank you for answer.

I fabricated my headunit's single-din kit to fit my DVD-ROM. In the area where you put like...change, cds, etc on the new facekit thing, I dremeled out the back, shoved my USB slimline DVD-ROM in there, and epoxy'ed it in. There was about half an inch of space between both sides of the drive so I bought some plastor filler (Formula 29 I think it was called) at Boaters World. Shoved it in with excess over the top, sanded it down, then coated the entire thing with Krylon Black Fusion plastic paint. Came out pretty damn good for homemade with no experience whatsoever.
Oh, the drive is USB and powered by +5V DC, so I can fandangle something into the car directly if I want, then just buy a long extension cord.
Slimline -> IDE -> USB don't work. You have to go starigth from slimline -> USB.
Get the USB enclosure from ebay or the firewire form mp3car store.
Thanatos.
Or the USB/Firewire one from newegg which is cheaper than the one on mp3car![]()
