I'd like to buy a Mercedes W140 S Class (my favorite car), preferablly S600, and mod it.
It's got a pretty huge engine, 420 HP stock, and hopefully a bit more after I'm done playing with it.
Everything will be changed with performance parts starting from shocks, springs, brakes...etc.
But my main concern is, just how reliable is such a powerfull car, after a decade or so of use...?
First, I'd like to paint it a pearl black, and fit it with some 20" chromes, and give the windows a nice black tint, and a nice AMG grill. That's kind of about it on the outside...
Inside, there's another story. Computer ofcourse is a must, 5 screens: 2 Touch screens, 1 VGA, and 2 videos. Another 15" one in the trunk, next to 4 subs and 4 amplifiers. It's got a nice huge trunk so there's a real possibily of doing some nice fiberglass work in there.
Main goal about this car, is to have a night time car, and be a little racer when I want her to.
I'll drive it around 10 mph max. That should get some peeps on the streets running ha...?
But the question still remains...is it worth doing such things to a pretty old car?

Really depends on the individual car... if you can find one that was driven by an old lady with low mileage, it certainly is worth it!
A car in't a good investment, so you shouldn't be concerned about its value before/after the mods, you should look into this for yourself and consider it "lost" money.
Everything you get out of it later (if you ever get to selling it) will be a nice extra.
I would do it, hell, i've got a '88 renault master that I keep putting money and time in to keep it rolling!
Go for it!
It all come to the point of how the car was driven and how well the owner did with maintainance. Old lady driving the car doesn't really mean the car is in good condition when she wasn't taking good care of it.
Worth it or not? Only you can decide. But I think it much better if you get the bimmer and mod it cuz I think bimmer is more performance oriented then benz.

I do like the S just the way it is. Maybe lower a bit and bigger rims.
