HELP: 2006 BMW 3-series (E90) - carputer in dash possible??

Yeah, they have the MOST bus, as well as an additional (and completely different) fiber bus called "byteflight" that's a fault-tolerant highspeed databus for all of the safety equipment in the vehicle.

Honestly, I'd be REAL hesitant to mess with any of these newer cars...too much going on between onboard computers.

holy **** i havent seen the inside of an E90 yet but damn they have taken alot of the console out.. my e36 is like twice that tall. weird.. good luck with the install

Did you check the price of a dash for e90 with oem navigation at a bmw dealer... The location is great but I think you 'll have to change the whole up part of the dash.

I think it would be easier to fit a flip up touch screen into the stock spot. Even then, I think you will get tons of problems for taking out the stock radio.

On a side note, there is a guy selling units that allow 4 difference RCA video inputs into the stock 8 inch nav screen thats in the E90. Its like 550 bucks though.

I also just bought a 2006 325i. And I cant seem to find a definitive answer about whether it uses a IBUS or a MOST (or a combination) system.

Does anyone know? And if it is a MOST, does anyone know of any way to interface it with a CarPC?

All E90 are MOST ( at least for media part )

I'd do that. The top portion of the dash will have that nice iDrive hump. Personally, I think that's one of the best places to keep the screen. Closer to eye level.
