    My MP3/GPS Solution

    Hi everyone,
    I would like to present you my GPS and MP3 player solution in my car. I worked quite hard and long time to finish this project. I live in a part of the world where GPS maps are not available, or at least I had no luck on finding them.
    A 400MHz Celeron Pentium II laptop runs in the trunk. Control is done through touchscreen or remote control for Winamp, and touchscreen for GPS sowftware.
    GPS Software is written by me. I programmed it in Delphi and it took me one month to finish it. Remarks for the software are:
    it parses offline satellite Google maps and public CIA world rekords database;
    it takes less then 3MB of RAM when executed;
    it is flexible in map expansions;
    it is hibernate-safe;

    The GPS software in my laptop has maps and details of 3 small countries and it is working perfectly as expected. The size of maps are near 300 MB at 10 different zoom levels.

    you might want to mount the laptop- to keep it from
    sliding around - and put it on its edge - to help protect the hard drive
