scions are built to be cheap..... & they are..... ****, a lot of the new cars are just cheaply built.... they are still a good bang for the buck..... but it's not fair to compare a $14,000 car with a $23,000 car though..... you get what you pay for either way.... the scions are still toyota reliable & a good value for the price.... personally I think there a little too on the "trendy young kid" style to be considered by any man over 30..... but that's just my view of it....

to me, all the new cars are **** in a way..... they don't build them like they used to, that's for sure.... every year they become more modular in construction & made cheaper & cheaper..... to see this just look at any 10 year old car verses it's new counterpart..... even from the higher end like bmw & benz..... they were built much better 10 years ago, but the technology intergrated today makes the newer one seem so much better....

I'd have to agree with borris on this one, well not about the lexus part necissarily, but on the used part anyway.....

most cars will loose half there value within the first 2-3 years........ that's huge!!!! for what you can get for 25k new, you can get a 2 year old 40k car..... a 2 year old 40k car will be a better car overall than a new 25k car.... which will get old anyway..... when you buy new it's all downhill from there, & steep downhill the first few years....

I work on new cars for a living, & I've been a car guy all my life..... I don't think I'll ever buy a new car..... you can just get so much more for your money by getting something that was used for a few years... there all the same **** really.... a car is like a candle, it's a consumable that will eventually get burnt up & replaced....... if you have a new one, once you light the wick it's used.... plain & simple...... your brand new car will be two years old in 2 years no matter what you do..... no one is going to go giving you back half your money at that point.....

I do on the other hand understand wanting new, & the false sense of security that can provide, but not me..... I'd take used any day.... unless you've just got enough money that it doesn't matter....

this is just my humble opinion though....... every one has one, & most are worth nothing compared to your own

You are trying to be sarcastic... right? The newer german cars have had huge recalls because of their electronics.

the candy available today is sick..... in a few years everyone will be watching movies & navigation & mp3's like it's normal......

10 years ago when someone seen a pc in my car they flipped to no end.... today it's like, oh... that's nice......

I used to have an original 1984 grand national.... I bought it from the 3rd owner and it had only 84,000 miles on it... LIKE AN *** i was forced to sell it because i had lost my parking spot (parking is expensive in manhattan) and i got rid of it....

I miss that car. =( it was not as fast as an 86/87 national, but it was still quick...

and about the scions - the xB is bought by a whole age-range - not only dudes in their 20s. if you visit scionlife.com, you will see that many owners are older and into their 40s and 50s. i suggest that you sit in one and test drive one before judging it. i personally dont like the look of the xB like 100%, but once i sat inside, saw all the STANDARD features, then the price, i didn't have to think twice about it...

Plus, it comes STOCK with an auxillary input to the radio! you can hook up your laptop to the factory sound system right when you drive it off the showroom floor like i did! in terms of getting a carputer put in it, my setup is the best out there in terms of portability/hideability/best bang for the buck. hopefully this weekend, i'll get to take some pictures of it to post!!!

Get an engine that's 85+ and you should be fine.

Get a Bimmer :-) You can get used E39s (96-03 5 series) for in the teens now. With the V8 I have maintenance will be high, but if you get the I6 versions you should be good. E46 3 series will also be reliable and now that the new E90 is out, the price should be good. You can get a lot for 24k if you are willing to buy something slightly used. slightly used luxury cars are the best deals on the market IMHO.
