    Radio?

Whats the best way to provide radio in your car using a carputer?
I've looked at the various different FM Radio/TV tuner cards but they will be no good for listening to AM (listening to Five Live football!) or LW. I also don't have room but more importantly don't want to use a seperate ICE head unit.

I want my carputer install to provide everything, radio, cd's, mp3's. dvd sat nav etc etc thats the beauty of using a computer. The other stuff is simple but how do you do a radio?

Currently, the best way to ensure radio functionalityis to retain a headunit.
That will be changing eventually as projects come to fruition.

I highly suggest you do some searching in the forums to see the projects that are currently in development.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I did search and I came up with millions of hits for using a head unit or a tv/radio card but I couldn't find any pc radio cards that did AM radio as well as FM except for this thing,

HQCT Module (new thread following HU RDS/RDBS)

but I'm after a pc card that does this job any ideas?

oh and digital radio is useless here in warwickshire and I refuse to pay for sat radio to listen to free to air am, there has to be a simple way to do this without keeping the head unit...anyone?

too bad. with bms and audi's u can control the headunit via the pc, and that will allow AM.

A tacky option might be to have an am radio playing via the aux in to your car pc. u'd have to manually tune the radio. Or maybe you can try to fiddle a way to tune it via the pc, but u'll have to do some research on that. I guess it depends on how badly u want it
