You don't power a HD using a montherboard

Yes, it would take more power than a laptop HD.

Be aware that a 3.5" desktop HDD draws power from the 12v rail as well as the 5v rail. That may present a power issue using the M1ATX.
A 2.5" laptop HDD only draws power from the 5v rail.

    Something to keep in mind.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
