    slingmedia? mobile TV

I saw a post a few months back on this but not much response to how well it might work for a carpc application. Has anyone had any more experience with it yet?

I think Orb is better considering it's free. I run it on my Media Center and watch TV from my laptop and PDA Phone.

Keep in mind, with Verizon, there has been a big conversation over on HoFo about data use and the 'Unlimited' data plan. Technically 5 GB of transfer in a month hits TOS, and they'll cancel your account if you hit 10 GB, which is pretty easy to do with the slingboxes.

That sucks. How can they advertize it as "unlimited" though? Wouldn't that be false advertizing and illegal?

I use Orb, too and its great. Tech support is fast, friendly, and knowledgeable.
Hey SFiorito, can you create a guest account for Guino?

Will be building a skin for it next month - could be tricky though to integrate into a front-end. I'm gonna upgrade my TV card and maybe give Guino access so he can play with it and see if he can integrate it.

anyone have any idea how much data per hour a slingbox connection will use....

It might be worth it if I could get even a few hours per month without going over the 5gb... but maybe not????

I use Sling media and it is a great product. I have no issues with it over my current 768k connection and it is even better with the more bandwidth you push.

I haven't paid much attention to the thread I was talking about, but apparently not. Mostly through the wonders of fine print and disclaimers, it turns out there really is no 'unlimited' with any wireless services. More like 'Unlimited within reason'.
