Never thought about using a VFD unit for a heads up display... might have to consider digging out the one I used ages ago back when those (or lcds) were the main carpc interface.
Hey guys I just was at Barnes and Nobles looking over the latest PC magazine and in there is an article of a Corolla that has a car pc setup. It was pretty interesting. The person has a printer and a shredder in their car lol.

The heads up thing was a neat/fairly easy solution.... along with the slide out tray for the laptop. May have to keep my eye open for a little display, could mount it out of sight behind the rear view mirror. Anyone know if the technique they used would work using a regular little LCD or LED device? Don't know much about them but didn't know if VFD's had a certain property that made them better....
