thieves have sued the places they have tried to break into due to injuries. I think the same would happen here.....BUT! how cool would it be to see a video of a robber getting zapped when he tries to break into a car.

Just when you think there are very inteligent people in the MP3Car/carputer world, morons like these and the OP come along.........

    The best ideas:
1: If the alarm goes off, a very very high volume siren sounds off
    OR/AND
2: A prerecorded message such as:
    "PC is dialing 911......"
    ring-tones
"This is 911. State your emergency"
"Car being stolen. GPS activated. Coordinates are 51 28' 23" N" (fake, a thief problably has no idea where he is)
"The police will be there shortly and is following the car via GPS"

    Thief will leave ASAP.

    That's what most would do.
    But I like Darwin Awards.
I reckon it's great when people protecting a material possession (which is often insured) are prepared to jail themselves. Being premeditated, it is often a life sentence (ie, 7 years or more). That's dedication to principles. Or materialism.
For those that were too stupid to know better, though it will probably be a lesser charge, they'll be out of the public domain for a while.

Not only would they sue you..... but as soon as they were to get shocked, I guarantee they would go ballistic and do anything to destroy that car. So in the end you will have a totaled car and also be sued.

And just because stunguns are legal in your area, doens't mean you allowed to freely use them. It is still considered assault, and if you aren't personally threatened (stealing from your car, or even stealing your car, is not a personal threat), you can still go to jail. Aside from that, the risk of a bystander/child/random moron getting injured is far to high to even consider it. You would be very successfully sued in any of these cases.

Honestly, I think the best idea for a 'smart' theft deterent would be to have a REAL immobilizing (ECU Based) system, along with active live video streaming from the vehicle. This would not only prevent your vehicle from being stolen, but would also help in locking up the guy who tried it. (unsuccessful car theives are almost never caught, without it).
