Backlight would be the backlighting of the unit and requires 12v.
Brake goes to the e-brake.
Innovatek's mnanuals must really suck balls.. Either that or you are just ignoring that lonely bundle of paper that's lying on your floor....
Hi, I have recently bought a INNOVATEK DVD-990 All-In-One indash unit. It is a dvd/tv tuner/cd/mp3 player.
There are a couple of wires which I dont know what to do with. One is called 'Backsight' (12v) and the other is called 'Brake' (12V).
What should I connect them too? Or can I leave them and not connect?
thanks
james

DAMN DP, and you answered the question. I would have sent him on his way to the Innovatek website, or forum. You are actually getting soft on the noob stupid questions.

...I love the French language...especially to curse with...Nom de Dieu de putain de bordel de merde de saloperies de connards d'enculés de ta mère. You see, it's like wiping your *** with silk, I love it.
BACKSIGHT..... not BACKLIGHT...
Also the instructions are as much use as a chocolate fire guard.![]()
Noob stupid questions hey... Nice to see yet another forum with actual noobs on it
Use some common sense, though. These are cheap units out of China made by Chinese with no comprehension of the English language. They say BACKSIGHT, but I'm pretty certain they mean BACKLIGHT. There's no other common English word that fights the context.Originally Posted by jampot1979

My guess is that both those need a 12v line. The backlight might be better suited to an ACC or even the headlight line, so the backlightling comes on when you turn on your lights.
The e-brake wires into your e-brake to prevent you from using the unit unless the e-brake is applied. It's a safety/legal feature. I'm pretty certain it will work just fine (and while driving!) if you don't wire up the e-brake line, although I'm not 100% certain on that.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I found out that the backsight wire is for rear parking cameras.
cheers mate
Yeah, I was going to say 'Backsight' would mean 'Reverse' to me. I don't think i've seen any type of headunit or screen where the 'backlight' of the screen was powered seperately from the unit.
Carefull... My screen's (Sp-716) e-brake wire gets hooked to ground. So, I have it tied in with the actual ground wire, so it works regardless of e-brake position. I think a lot of screens are this way...Originally Posted by DarquePervert
