    Talking Hello All

I just registered with the forums tonight and wanted to introduce myself.

I am dug..... Hello to all.....

I am getting close to completing my car MP3 player. I am installing it in my 1984 Corvette. It has the following items:

    5.4" LCD Display
    700 MHz Celeron CPU
    192 Mb of RAM
    SV25 Computer Bare Bones
    FM/TV Tuner
    DVD Drive / Player
WinALDL (a GM ECM monitoring System)
    Sonique MP3 Player

I am using Hover Desk for the software interface. It seems perfect to me, but I searched here and found no postings about it. Does anybody have experience with it? Just curious.

Anyhow, I look forward to offering any assistance I can, and getting the assistance I need. Take care and keep pushing the relm.

    Hello RaZor....

I am trying out Windows ME, I still need to do some tweaking to that, things like get rid of it asking for a network passwordat boot up... stuff that slows the boot time.

But yeah, Hover Desk it pretty cool. It is like Desktop X except alot easier to work with. Lets see if I can paste in a screen shot...

    Nope, can't do it.

The address of there site is www.hoverdesk.net.

Check it out, it is 30 eval. tryout, $20 to buy and pretty easy to use. I wish I knew how to post a screen shot. I made a very custom looking 84 Corvette themed desktop.

The only downside to it is that it is basically another GUI overtop of Windows, so there is more crap to go wrong. But so far it has been stable for me. I set up 6 clickable boxes for the apps I want to run and that is all I have to deal with to operate the system when driving.

Oh, I just noticed the file attachment box down there, see if that works. Just note that I am sending this from work where I have a rather old screen shot, the current one is much better and fits the screen complete with the back ground.

for a nice tweaking program, and one that will get rid of that login stuff you should get TweakUI . or what i do is, since i am not using my NIC all the time is to just into Device Manager and disable it. it boots much faster and if i need to network stuff to the box i just start it up and enable the network card. pretty simple.

I like that idea (disabling the NIC). Cause you are right, the NIC will very seldom be used. Just to download more MP3 files and upload WinALDL files.

I will check out TweakUI also.

Did you check out Hover Desk? I wish I could post a screen shot. It is really a pretty cool interface.

oh wait, the file attachment worked this time. I just wish it was a better screenshot. It is from about 3 weeks ago, before I got everything set up right.

But it gives you the general idea.

Tonight at home I will post a current screen shot.
