No your right you cant sugar coat life, but within that confine there is a diffrence between being nice and being a jerk.

Just a sugestion. Take it or leave it. It doesnt matter to me. Just trying to help you out.

It seems the struggle with noobs feelings and cold veterans is never ending. However, Red does a great job giving links and information without saying "you must search" so it is a good middle ground.

Now, for my experience, ditch the head unit if you can afford the amps and so on. IF you can't afford new equipment, then run the carPC through the stock deck for a while. It won't kill you and gives you some time with it to learn before you get to involved with the project.

thanks, i have the amp on order and building the custom dash while i wait. When i had my comp in my g35 i used the headunit because the custom bose had too many nice features i wanted to keep. I'm taking your advise and going headunitless for the xterra.

I went with the HU in my G35 Coupe. I think it's the best move I made. I have all the functionality of the standard CD changer and radio, but can just switch over to the SAT input to get sound from my Mini.

You can do it either way. I guess I'm just cheap and/or lack the skilz to build a custom center column that looks factory! By the way, people like the car, but they go gaga over the computer...

see, I wouldn't want a deck, IMO, it takes away from the PC...
