    XBox

    i have an original XBox.

i want to mount it under the seat of my car so it can be secured and given power and screen inputs. but i want to be able to remove it for when im at home, so if im going on a long journey people can play Xbox and when im at home it can come out.

Just wondered if ne of you guys had some ideas as too the way i would go about fabbing a box/way of securing it??

anything under seat unless back seat is a bad idea. find somewhere else - it will probably be easier to secure anyway

don't mount it on the floor as the vibration of the car will cause the hdd to die..best replace with laptop harddrive mounted spinning the the direction of ur tires...

No, the vibration of the car won't kill your xbox. If that's true, mine shoulda been dead a year ago.

If it's just for temp use, velcro it and slap it under the seat. I do it for trips and such. If it's a permanent install, go for the trunk or somewhere it cannot be kicked or generally beat up.

i'd agree with tidder, hard drive failure in a car has never been proven to be because of shock or vibration or anything else

as tidder has, i had an xbox in my car for about a year, not strapped to anything, hell it rolled a few times -_-;;; and still is goin strong

best not to keep it under the seat for too long, as it can get kicked, wires can get pulled, it can get stolen, etc

but yeah, velcro it to the floor while u use it, then remove it when u park the car at night or whatever and you'll be fine

and you DONT need a laptop drive in it, my 120gb 3.5" has run great since i put it in about a year ago

I wouldn't worry about vibration...my concern would be extreme temperatures. Mine is mounted in the trunk and on those hot days, it gets SUPER hot back there. But there has been no issues with lockup or anything. The only time I had a problem was with extremely cold temperatures, when it was in the teens the hard drive wouldn't spin until it warmed up a bit. And to let you know, it's been well over a year in my car and is a 250GB drive.
