Way I can run headless - PDA

I have thought of a method to allow me to use my carputer (which i'm slowly building up, so i haven't got a touchscreen (or any screen for that matter) yet).

I was thinking as i was driving to work today, i could possibly use my PDA... I have seen and used briefly software for the pda which allows you to remotely control and view whats playing with WMP...

What do you think? Any suggestions?

Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

You could probably take this a little further, I understand there is a VNC client available, at least for Windows Mobile, which should allow full "RemoteDesktop" control from a PDA. Then of course you could use winamp or whatever other media player floats your boat.

You'd also be able to get the other features of the CarPC too.

Incidentally though, what is the software you refer to called? I wouldn't mind using it around the house when the PC's blaring in the bedroom I could have a remote control in the lounge

I just did a quick google search and the first thing that came up was an article done by Microsoft about doing the same thing....well sort of...it was about a sys admin who ised his pocket pc to remote into the servers. See URL below.

WM 5.0 has terminal services in it so if you use XP pro you wouldn't need anything else. I also think there is a program to control MCE if you were interested in using that. Look around at PocketGear.com for Niveus Pocket Remote.

wouldnt this require a router/hub in the car ? or can this be done in adhoc mode? hmm... remote controlling a carputer via pda.... sounds like a fun thing to try.... specially when messing with things in the trunk... i hate jumping in and out of my car to test things.

    what a magnificent idea ^_^
