    How much to charge..?

    My friend saw my car-puter yesterday and told me today that he and possibly his sister want one (and she's hot)...

    so he asked how much could it cost (at this point i smiled).

    anyways i don't really want to make that much money .. maybe enough for a new motherboard w/ suspend to ram...

    i'm thinking that i could pick up a slot 1 board used for pretty cheap....

    so what would you charge..?

    i'd be modeling around my current system...

    inverter, gamepad for control, no display what-so-ever (for now), P166 running windows 98se lite with 40 sec boot time..

    I know what I would charge

    But seriously, a quick search on ebay revealed that a PC of simular spec to what you mentioned is about $50, gamepad for $5, inverter $20. With case, connectors and the like I recon you'd be looking at arround the $100 mark.

    Might be worth looking at eio for a cheap character LCD.

    Sounds like a tech support nightmare. Figure out a price for the hardware, then double it. Then add 20% and change your phone number.

    haha good plan.

    Are you just setting up the comp, or are you installing it? If you are installing it, I'd charge around $100 or so, depending no how complicated the job is. If it's really simple (i.e cheap character LCD, that will fit into a DIN slot) then I'd charge less.

    i'd be installing, probably tech supporting too. im kinda against buying stuff off ebay for this, cause of S&H and then customs brokerage too (i live in Canada, Eh?). Ottawa has got a pretty good used computer market, anyways.
    I think i'll start watching the newsgroup classifieds again..
