    Talking Project Update

My mold is finished and drying in the garage right now. Once that dries, I fiberglass over it, and I'm done.

    Weeeeeeeeee!

(btw it's perfectly smooth, that's the shadows playing tricks on your eyes making it look lumpy)

Hopefully I'll make another update tonight.

Looks great! What did you use under the plastic? once the plastic went on, did you use fiberglass resin?

I am thinking of making my own kick's for some speakers..

    Thanks,

    Mike

Is that just a copious amount of bondo? or modeling clay? And I know if I searched, I could find guides on how to do fiberglass (and I've even read a few) but where do you find the supplies to do it? The mold has got me thinking now (that it looks quite nice). Do you have winamp running in that shot (because it certainly looks that way, but it might just be an optical illusion).

It's water-based air dry modeling clay. I sculped the mold by hand.

I just put the first layer of fiberglass over it. Once I get a few more layers, I'll take it all out, and wash off the clay. I'm left with a nice hard shell.

I got the fiberglass / resin / harderner at autozone. It cost me a total of $20.

Yes, winamp is running under there, and amazingly the touchscreen still works under the plastic

    Lookin good on that mold.

I noticed you have Crunch amps, I'm thinking of getting some for my car. Are you happy with them? Any pros, cons. I've been searching online for a Crunch Audio website, and no luck I just get a bunch of retailers instead. The price is not bad for a 4 x 80w @ $150.95 US for the Black Maxx series.

    I have a 4x50 and a 2x100. They cost me $129 each.

I have no problems with them at all, I think they are great.

Good sound quality, plenty of power for me.

Heh, more annoying "where'd you get it" questions im guessing the clay is something that i can just pick up at an arts and crafts store?

very impressive..... as I have come to expect!

I like your clay idea with the FG over the top, might try that oneday for making some propper kick panels, that way I can bring the resin to the clay mould away from the car, rather than usingthe FG in the car and risk leaking it over carpet/trim/etc....
    Project - GAME OVER :(
