Thread: Pioneer stacker cable help needed

I used the other diagram, but unfortuatly the colours of my wires didn't match it's and i had to trace the wires back to the plug end and connect them there.. I can post diagram with revised colours if you want.

This is the diagram that i followed



and this is the colour of the wires at the end of the connection.

So brown and black are ground, blue goes to Left signal, and yellow is signal Right



Im not sure if yours will match, but the first time i tryed and messed up all i got was a loud buzz. (ie nothing broke)

No worries thanks for the pictures man. I understand the top one u posted with the 2 diagrams. In the next few days i will try and wire it up and see what happens hopefully nothing blows up lol.
Does it matter if both left and right channels both have the same ground. I have been told that it is not good for the quality of the music.

Oh yeah how come the diagram at the botom has pin 8 covered do i worry about that.

I just finished doing this today, i`ve been meaning to do it for ages since it sounded horrible the 1st time i tried it Anyway, it now sounds perfect (tested it with minidisc), and I have the grounds soldered together, since i'm using a 3.5mm jack on the end of my lead.

I never had a proper poineer plug like you, so i had to improvise: After loadza mucking around with jumpers, i eventually discovered that a cdrom audio plugholes perfectly lines to with the pins on the headunit. I used an angle grinder to make the plug thinner so it would fit, and this sorted out pins 11,10 and 9.
For pin 7, i pulled out the metal part of the cdrom connector which would have gone to pin 8 on the headunit, wrapped it in electrical tape to prevent shorts (i done all of this after soldering, btw), and just put it on pin 7.
I then tested it, no problems there, then i covered it in copious amounts of electrical tape to stop it from being pulled out the back of the head unit.

Don`t put more than 1 volt of audio into your headunit, it could damage it (at least thats what pioneer says).

Thanks for the info MikeHunt79. I have been busy at the moment so, it maybe a few days before i start making up the rest of my cable. So you just used a common ground which is the yellow wire (pin 11) and the blue.

I have a old isa soundblaster 16 and i dont think it will put out more than 1 volt lol. What sound card are you using. Did you have to turn down the volume on your pc to like drop the line out voltage. (can this be done)

Wow, 200th post... I spend way 2 much time on here... Anyway:

Turning down the volume on the line out will reduce the output voltage. I used a multimeter to find the output of my soundcard.... I`m gonna use a SB Live, and the maximum output voltage is around 2v, so i`m gonna have the output volume at 50%. If the volume was set to high, you would hear it anyway, as it would sound distorted. Good luck.
