Cold Weather! To do or Not to do!

Aight...

I've searched thru the threads but no luck with this question...

I know that the recommend temperatures for a PC is around 40 degrees to 130 or so... The 130 doesn't bother me... B/c in lil ole Kentucky... I never seen it get above 103... Lol

But the 40 degrees does... Right now its 25...

So the general question is... Whats the coldest temp that you ran ur pc under...

Yet I wander why they would set such a high -- low temp recomendation... Cuz... Me being an X gamer (counter-strike) We always wanted or computs.. To run as cool as possible.. Which gave us op cpu response...

But anyways... Give me some info.. Thanks guys...

its 8 out and my computer starts fine, i usually leave the heat on for awhile though before just to be safe, also your lcd monitor will most likely be very dim when it is cold untill it heats up, i know mine is, and some hard drives wont work right if its to cold, so if your computer doesnt start wait untill the car is warm and try again, i've never heard of damaging a computer from being to cold its the shift from warm to cold and back again that wears electronics out, but i've never seen any problems. just with subwoofers because the rubber surround could crack.

well i live in saskatchewan, canada and if i were you i wouldn't worry about it gettin to cold were you live.

i just put in my setup 2 months ago(see sig for my carpc specs) and, i was worried about cold weather but hasn't been a problem yet.

and now for the temp i've been running it at

the coldest so far
-30 degrees Celsius which is -22 degreed Fahrenheit

the the coldest with the wind chill factor
-40 degrees Celsius which some how is the same as -40 degrees Fahrenheit

so unless you have weather colder then that i would not be to worried

see i freeze my arse off when its 8 F outside, how do you do it when its -40.... i cant even imagine wow

Mine works perfectly until the hard drive reaches about 10 degrees. The only time that ever happens is when I leave it overnight, if it's ten degrees outside, and I drove the car earlier in the day it retains enough heat to boot right up.

I decided not to wire my remote start to the computer, that way on a really cold morning I can get the car nice and warm, and then when I come and put the key in the hard drive is warmed up and the computer boots no problem.

Yup us Canadians are crazy! In colorado it doesn't get too cold unless you are up to 14k feet. I have worn shorts every winter. The only time where I have actually gotten cold was Thunder Bay, Ontario. Damn that place is cold!

My PC has booted up fine in at 0F just fine. Took a bit longer than usual, but perfect none the less. Full size HD btw.

UK.
Its 6c outside, I'm not going out until it gets to at least 10c, so I guess nothing will be done on the car until at least March now.

Yes I hate cold weather!

Damn... i also hate the cold weather... The thing about Kentucky... Last week it twas 70 this week 15... Next week suppose to warm up to 50 or 60... So its gay... So i pretty much stay wit a sinus infection lol...
