Apologies if this is in the wrong forum - couldn't really suss out which was best. Okay - I've got a 68 Volkswagen Camper, as you can imagine it most certainly doesn't have an ECU and, in fact, currently, the only two pieces of electronics on the van are the radio and a somewhat pricey (~$500) ignition system.

Of course, I'm a dirty nerdy geek and while I enjoy the simplicity of the van I feel it's my duty to bring some of the modern world to it. Just to give you an overview of the whole thing I'm planning on dropping in a relatively (for a miniPC) high specced PC (Power, space and cooling won't be real issues) which i can use as a stereo, DVD player, GPS system and all those kind of goodies.

However, the big challenge for me is to get some form of virtual dash working. I've got a few aftermarket sensors (Temp, pressure, voltage) and I'd like to tie in a few warning lights/alarms too.

Sadly, so far, I can't find a definitive way of doing it. I've tried googling but I either find brief mensions or just loads of OBD stuff. All the gauges work on voltage drop, so I figure something like this would do it:

But what I'm after really are peoples real life experiences and advice. So any help would be seriously appreciated. Cheers.
