    mother board problem

ok new to this forum and donno if this is right place to leave this post but anyway.........

    building car pc with

    Jetway J7F4K 1.5GHz C7 Mainboard
    12v car powersupply
    2.5inch 40GB drive

i have this all in a homemade case and it works sometimes, turn it on and it beeps and boots up as normal but other times turn it on and it does not even beep, the fans turn on and the hard drive spins up but it does not even seem to reach bios? the monitor remains blank??????

anyone got any ideas? may it be a faulty mother board?

its standard and have "loaded optimised bios settings" and not been clocked or anything :s

    cheers

Is it on your desk or in teh car?
If it's in the car, how are you powering it? Inverter? DC-DC PSU? regulator/PicoPSU?
Your statement of "it doesn't work" lacks the details needed to even begin to help you troubleshoot. It's like calling your doctor and telling him that your neck hurts. There's not a lot to go on for making a diagnosis.

Although, the initial symptoms point to a power problem.

its on the floor in my bed room but running from a car battery.

    its a 12v dc-dc car power supply.

sometimes it boots/starts up as normal. but other times i turn it on and the fans spin/hard drive spin up and it just stays there, the monitor does not come up showing anything and it does not beep.

so its failing even to reach bios???

sorry if didnt give enough detail in first post

have you checked the voltage of the battery?

if you're not running a charger on that battery you could be running into low voltage problems.

    Please don't take it personally.

have you powered up the system using a regular ATX power supply to make certain all the components are functional?

And are you certain the car battery has a full charge?

M2 is known to have some issues with some Jetway board producing the same symptoms as you have. Have a search and you will find a good few posts on it see if any are the same as yours.
