Thumbs up AUST members - well priced 5.6Inch TFT's

A headsup on a great price TFT which I am sure a few of you will take advantage of (Hornet/HoldenV8 I am looking in your direction)....

I can't claim credit for this find.... I actually had some guy email me some LCD questions (now I have the TFT screen and the pics on my website I seem to get 2-3 emails a week about TFTs!) and he told me about this screen and if it was good since it looked alot like mine...

yeah its the same as mine, with the tripod/case/etc, from Strathfield sold under the brand name XMS, which they stock alot of (mainly DVD players and surround sound speakers)... its the same screen as mine in everyway, but I think a few companies re-badge the same product.....

the best part - the PRICE! only $349!!! which yes, for Australian mp3car people is a fantastic price for a display this size... I searched and searched and got my screen for $410 after a haggle with the salespeople at Autobarn! so this is a great deal.....

I think in QLD, 'brisbane car sound' is the equilivent company?

    nice headsup magnetik!!

I have seen a cheaper 5.6" TFT LCD screen available in Australia tho, incase anyone is interested: http://www.merconnet.com/lcdscreens/tftlcd.html
Shipping is an extra $33 US to Australia, which brings the total to just over $280 AUD if I'm not mistaken.

The company has a distribution point in Glenn Waverly (Melbourne, Vic) in Australia so you don't have to worry about any customs duty fees at all (it's covered in the shipping costs).

If you pick it up directly from the outlet they told me you can even save a few dollars on the shipping.

Not sure of the quality of the screen tho, havent got one myself...yet. If anyone has one, please give us some details on it!

Magnetik: how good (brightness/viewing angles) is your LCD?
Do you think it would be possible to add a touch screen to either of these LCD's without totally wrecking the casing?

Although this is a good price, it's not a great deal cheaper than the screen that DSCustoms is selling here, and that one has the ability to hide inside the dash - mine landed for about AUD$440.
