Attention my fellow cold climate residents...

I was just wondering for those of you who have carputers and live in cold climates, how does the carputer hold up? I find that at 20 degrees, if i leave my phone in the car it reacts slowly and was thinking that the LCD and even the computer might not work or not work right at real cold temperatures. So yeah, hows life with a carputer when its cold out? thanks...

I have never once had my LCD not work. Dim? Yes.

Also my computer won't boot if it gets colder than about 5 degrees, but I have a 3.5'' drive. It's never been a problem for me though since I have a remote start that isn't wired to the computer. I just turn the car on and let it warm up, then the computer turns on when the key is turned.

I left my desktop pc in the car a couple of nights ago and it would not start. I had to bring it inside and let it sit for several hours before it warmed up enough to start. (It was in the single digits).
Is a laptop more forgiving of low temps?

I have had no problems with my carputer.

-20C weather, and all was well. Screen was dim, but that will happen at any temperature below 0C. Once the screen warms up it works fine of course.

I too am using a ATA 3.5" drive.

I have the dimming problem that most people do, as the car warms up the screen gets to its normal brightness.

The other problem I have is my USB hub, the cold stops it from working, and I generally have to unplug the devices plugged into it after the car warms up.
