    350Z Owners

Im going to be putting a CarPC into a 350z and was wondering how you guys like the factory LCD location. I noticed most people mount it under the lid and its reccessed a good few inches.

From the online pictures it almost looks like everyone mounts them so far back it'd be hard to get at to push the screen.

Any opinions from people that own one or have been in one?

    Cheers fellas

It may be a stretch to get to the screen, but I mounted mine recessed because it has better visibility and less reflection. I do believe that is the reason why the majority of Z owners mount it like that.

Agreed, I don't mind the reach yet (but then I'm 6'5 so my arms are longer then most

I still get some glare during the day, but it's not enough where I'm ready to rip it out again hehe

And there are sunlight readable displays now as well if you wanted a more factory look with it not being as recessed, but cost wise, you might as well jsut push it back in the dash!

ok, I'll try to explain as best as I can. I do not believe the stock nav screen has video out (fairly positive). I do not have any pics of mine actually being mounted. I had a stock navigation system, so I "reused" that bezel as best as I could. Without knowing, you could not tell that there is anything modified at all. Its a little redneck, but it looks nice Also, I had no real problems with wiring...I went the easy way around and used an aftermarket amplifier to handle the sound.

It could be possible. I however haven't found a double-din in-dash LCD that I like yet...But it seems that Brett may be coming out with an amazing product soon. There is a thread in the hardware development forum on the progress and features of the product. If everything turns out the way its been described, my stock nav system is going back in and I'll be purchasing one of those!!!

    Screen...

The screen being recessed is a good thing. It makes it very hard for others on the outside of the car to see the screen...I think you can find the advantage there...and I have had no problems being able to touch it while I drive, and I am only 5'8".

I think I am gonna have them do it recessed though.
