Other than the RAM, you should be good. That motherboard does not accept DDR2.

ok so DDR2 is out the door, DDR is the replacement. Thanks for the response!

Sounds good. I have the '06 version and I too found a good deal for it and the receiver.

If you will be using RR, check out this skin for it. It is the one I use, and it makes S&T much much more touchscreen friendly: Brushed Metal Streets and Trips 2006 skin

Well Yes I am using RoadRunner. It is a free frontend. If you look in the Software sectio, then frontends, you will see a complete listing of them. Some mac, some linux, most windows. RR is the most popular. StreetDeck is a $200 program but hassle free setup and navigation built in (Not compatable with Streets and Trips, only Mappoint). Frodoplayer was slowly dieing, but he seems to everynow and then pop back up so who knows.

To get RR, either look in the RR forum for something about a "new installer and updater" where they make a much easier to install version from the latest binaries. (basically just double click and voila). Or to get the older installer and most current binaries, go to guino's website.

Do a member search for "guino" and look in his signature. Then the downloads section of his site. He is the developer by the way.

    thanks!^

About how many watts would the computer and the screen use? would a 400 watt inverter with a 800 watt surge protector be enough? and is it safe to run through the cig lighter, i have one in my trunk. I plan on mounting the computer in the back and run the power and usb for the monitor to the back and to the inverter, well unless its not recommended

Cig lighter is one of the worst places to connect to. You need a dedicated wire up to the battery.

A via board is a low power solution. 25-30W for the motherboard, probably 25W for the screen, and then the HD and a CD drive probably 10W or a bit more. You do realize that those kits come with a M1-ATX?

You do not need an inverter. Do a search for M1-ATX or M2-ATX or smart DC-DC PSU or look in the mp3car store for DC-DC PSU's to learn about them. Also, inverters are frowned upon unless absolutely neccessary. In your case it is definately not needed.
