I can not get this puppy to work!!
Fusion-One did you change the pins of the connector? I tried with hyperterminal but did not get anything. I am not sure if the remote/receiver is working at all.
Any help will be appreciated guys!!

I changed the pins.. using a gender changer alone will not work, follow the guide nemesis posted, it works.

I couldn't get hyper terminal to work, either.. I found the best test is in the settings of the "generic serial basd IR receiver" plugin for girder, I just kept that open and kept testing the remote.. all o fa sudden the little area that displays what code is being transmitted sprang to life with numbers and letters! I had broken through!

I highly suggest using an old sega genesis controller cord for the wiring.. much easier to do.. just a matter of twisting wires together, no soldering required.

Fusion-One, glad you got it working.

[One thing im having trouble with is the signal time of the remote.. it seems so slow, I use another remote (rca universal) with my infrared receiver, and it works very well.. instant response, the On Digital remote is so sluggish (and the sluggishness is sporadic, to add to the frustration!), its bad enough that I won't use it on my carpc, since it would be the main means of navigation]

I did have a similar problem when I first got mine working. I messed around with the key repeat times and managed to get a better response time, try varying the "Anti-repeat wait time" in Girder for the keys that are giving you problems.

What about posting your revisions for the shift control I would be interested to see what you did.

So to ask a stupid question cause this whole thread has seemed to destroyed my already fragile mind to the point i cant understand anything.......

Does this controller work with an Ir Man?

Does it come with with a male db 9 connector which needs to be converted to a male?

It comes with a 9-way male that if you want it to plug in a standard com port you need a female.

I have no idea if it will work with a IRman(i don't even know what one is !!).

My remote and those for sale on ebay come with an interface unit.

If you download the file from my web site there is a short text file that explains it.

That link doesnt seem to work at the mo will try later......

From what ive read it sounds as if there are 2 ir outputs on the controller and the IR Man will recieve the standard out and the qwerty stuff will go the other........

so it may work if i have both ir recievers plugged in...

Just for your info and irman is a great ir thingy...

Sorry the link was broken, works ok now.

The remote will work with only one reciever plugged in, either the qwerty section or the front keys depending on which receiver is working.

    Hope that makes sense

    RF instead of IR

I know this is a bit OT, but has anyone considered an RF remote instead of an IR one? A cool mod would be to change this remote to an RF remote (900 Mhz range would be good).

    Any thoughts?
