The serial port most likely is the source of power. I believe one pin (can't remember which) is always pulled high to 12V. Of course there is a ground, so you've got yourself a power supply (a low power one though).Originally Posted by Vittel
Jared - using your modified Girder file, works well (Although normal Spacebar was omitted!) - your time out settings (99) in the Serial plugin prevented the Cursor keys operating the mouse (It would move one notch before timing out that key) - other than that it works well![]()

Sorry for pulling this thread out of the grave...
Just one quick question about the power connector, I had to cut it off since i couldn't find a compatible male connectorand I am left with three wires, red =12V, bare = ground, and a green wire???? what is that one for?
THanks in advance
:edit:
nm, Got it, thanks nemisis! need to browse this again for the shift key![]()
I did the wire resolder. Girder is still not picking up any commands. I guess I have one that requires the power. How are you guys powering this?Originally Posted by Caeberos

Has anyone successfully gotten this remote working with Media Engine v2.1? I'm wondering if I'm going to have to run Girder along with Media Engine to get past some of the goofiness of the remote itself.
Thanks,
Paul

Revived!! The Grave Digger!
I got my On Digital remote/keboard/mouse working thanks to this thread and google. Thanks for the useful info and the .GML file. Although its the same remote, my serial interface wires were a little different. Not 5 but six wires, and connected to the 9-pin Serial Adapter in a different order than the .pdf file in this thread. (lots of trial and error)
The IR receiver also requires external power. (Thanks to this thtread I did'nt waste time messing with an unpowered receiver..lol)
It took me a week to get it right. Messing with both the Remote and Girder off and on for about a hour or three each day snd searching for info. I also learned how to build my own IR receiver messing with "Google" so much.![]()
The only thing left for me to do is splice the IR receiver ps wire where the barrel plug for the ps connects to, and hopefully get the opus or the cars battery to power the IR receiver. I know I'll want some help with that soon, so I don't blow up anything.
I highly recomend this gadget! It's a keyboard/mouse/remote all in one and in a small size. It's very accurate and fast. It keeps up with my input with no problem. It writes the data as fast as I can type it. The mouse works well too!! The range is also superior.
I originally found out about this keboard/mouse here:

A helpfull app to check your serial/com ports connection. This was a key part helping me getting the receiver to work. It detects com port activity. With this you can manually open and close com ports thats not in use and watch port activity!
