Thread: Why can't WE have mapping software like THIS...?

My Pioneer DVD nav has some 3d views that make it look like you are playing a video game...but let me just say, its VERY HARD to follow directions with those views. I miss turns all the time, but they look much cooler than the normal overhead map modes. Its pretty sweet looking down and seeing all the curbs, medians, etc. on my little screen Too bad it doesnt detect where other cars are on the road...then I could literally just drive on my 7incher instead of having to look through all those damn windows in my truck. Here I am having to do all that work like a sucker.

I love that Simpson's Episode where Homer is in the Ederly home and sees a guy on a wheel chair. "Here I am walking like a sucker." I can relate

because, the governmental mapping agencies (for instance IGN in France, check www.ign.fr -- warning, all in French) charges an arm and a leg for the cartography data

How do these compare VS the big name Car Audio's GPS systems, like Pioneer, Clarion, etc?

I am curious if the type of GPS systems like Pioneer, etc, is better than a computer based GPS system (Meaning running on a PC, with StreetAtlast or such software)
